Digoria (North Ossetia) is a developing climbing area with equipped rock sectors for different skill levels, located in the scenic Aigadon Gorge.
The main locations include “Ryzhaya Skala”, “Lower Rocks”, “Black Rock”, and “Pine Sector”. The active climbing season runs from spring to autumn, offering routes of various difficulty grades.

Ryzhaya Skala Massif
The massif includes the following developed sectors:
– Waterfall
– Overhang

Approach: After the gate on the bridge over the Khares River, follow the road for about 100 m, cross the stream, and start ascending the grassy slope toward the reddish cliffs with a large overhang, to the right of the main waterfall. Follow the trail to a large reddish wall with a prominent overhang. From the bridge over the Khares River: 15–20 minutes.
Waterfall Sector

This sector was developed for instructional mountaineering purposes by A. Yurkin and A. Rastorguev in June 2013.
The cliffs are suitable for training a wide range of mountaineering and climbing skills: ascending and descending ropes, rope handling, top-rope and lead climbing, rescue techniques, etc.
The starts of the routes are equipped with bolt belay stations for practicing various techniques at ground level and for demonstrations. The sector has a south-west aspect.
Approach to the sector: From below the wall, continue upward to the left end of the cliffs near the stream—this is where the routes begin. Access to intermediate and top anchors is as follows: cross the stream to the left side, climb 15–20 m, then cross the stream again near a large grassy ledge below the reddish-black cliffs. This leads to the intermediate anchors. To reach the top anchors, climb above the ledge via the black-streaked rock. There is a bolt for protection and for setting fixed lines. From there, move up right on slightly inclined stepped rock to a large ledge, where bolts are available for rigging.
Routes in the “Waterfall” sector:
* Warning: On the route “Spuskovoy,” small loose stones may fall when pulling the rope!
Overhang Sector

This sector has long been used by climbers. The route “Zachet” is traditionally used as an exam climb before progressing to Category 5 alpine routes.
Existing lines are climbed entirely on traditional protection (trad). In June 2013, during preparation works, the routes “Zachet” and “Pryanik” were cleaned of loose rock, and rappel anchors were upgraded with bolts and rings.
Routes in the sector:

Lower Rocks Sector

This sector was developed during the peak era of Soviet mountaineering. In June 2013, old protection (rusted bolts and pitons) was removed and replaced with new equipment (bolts, chains, etc.).
The sector is suitable for beginners and intermediate climbers to practice movement on easy rock terrain with top-rope belays, rope ascents/descents (“Tyrolean-style traverses”), rescue techniques, etc.
Access to anchor stations for rigging fixed lines is available from both the left and right sides of the massif. At the top, there are bolts for setting fixed lines and organizing group access. The sector has a southern aspect.
Approach: After the gate on the bridge over the Khares River, immediately turn left onto a trail heading toward the Sugan Ridge. After about 500 m, the trail joins a dirt road—continue along it for another 100–200 m. The training cliffs are located about 30 m above the road. Approach time: 10–15 minutes from the bridge.
Routes in the sector:
At present, the sector is not fully equipped and is rarely used. However, it has strong potential for the development of sport climbing routes. The cliffs are 10–15 m high and located about 10 minutes from the bridge over the Khares River.
Pine Sector Massif

This massif is a forested rock slope, suitable for practicing rope-team movement on easy terrain. It is located slightly to the right and below Ryzhaya Skala.
Approach: The massif is located slightly below and to the right of Ryzhaya Skala. See the approach description above.
1. Snow and ice training
Snow training is conducted in the Gebe Gorge, either during route approaches or acclimatization outings. Snow and ice training can be carried out on the East Taimazi Glacier. The traditionally used Tana Glacier is now unsafe due to intensive melting, lack of suitable ice sections, and rockfall hazard.
2. Rope crossings
Training in rope crossings is traditionally conducted on the Khares River, at a point where it splits into two channels. The smaller stream is used for practice. This location is about 500 m downstream from the bridge. A fixed Tyrolean traverse is installed on the approach to the East Taimazi Glacier: a steel cable (25–27 m) spans a rocky gorge, with equipped anchor stations.
