Aiguille de Triolet is a mountain in the eastern part of the Mont Blanc massif, on the border of France and Italy. Situated on a long ridge that includes peaks such as Mont Dolent and the Grandes Jorasses, the Aiguille de Triolet sits above the Argentière Glacier and is typically climbed from this side, starting from Chamonix.
The Mont Blanc Massif (Alps) is a high alpine region on the border of France, Italy, and Switzerland, known for its massive glaciers, extensive north faces, and some of the most challenging and prestigious mountaineering routes in the world. Europe.
New Lines on the North Face of the Aiguille de Triolet
On December 13–14, 2025, Tom Livingstone, Filippo Sala, and Sylvain Schüpbach climbed You Didn’t Ask, a new line on the north face of the Aiguille de Triolet above the Argentière basin in the Mont Blanc massif. On the same days, Philippe Brûlé, Amaury Fouillade, and Olivier Collie climbed the central couloir on the left, then reached the You didn’t ask line on the final pitch, opening a route they named Inédite (750 m, M7+).

Together with Tom Livingstone and Filippo Sala, I made the most of the recent window of good weather to climb something on the north face of Aiguille de Triolet. This wall is extremely rarely visited and offers an outstanding adventure for those who enjoy climbing off the beaten track.

This was the third north face climb in my “Le 6 pareti nord dimenticate” project. Of course, finding a truly “forgotten” north face in the Chamonix area is not easy, and indeed, on the second day, we saw another team—Philippe Brûlé, Amaury Fouillade, and Olivier Colli—following our line on an overhanging section of the face. This meant that the crux pitch had been climbed that very same day.
