Climbers Nicholas Farenzena and Gabriele Walicki have established a new multi-pitch route “Baila Morena” on the south face of Corno del Framont in Civetta-Moiazza in the Dolomites.
Work on the new route began in September 2024. From the first meters, the monolithic wall revealed its character – solid rock, careful and strenuous climbing. The first sections of the route ran along slabs and cracks to an overhanging cornice, followed by two key flights: a technically difficult slab and a difficult power crack. The upper sections of the route combined cracks and slabs on firm terrain, providing a varied and exciting ascent.

The new route “Baila Morena” turned out to be modern Alpine climbing with sparse protection and a minimal number of bolts. The belay stations are equipped with stainless steel bolts, with only a few pitons and bolts left in between.

The free passage of the route took place in the fall of 2025, thus completing a project that lasted more than a year. The author dedicated this ascent to his mother, who loved these mountains, and thanked Gabriele Walicki for the partnership, his father for the photos, and friends for their support.
